We are ever inspired by one of our teachers, the radiant Rosemary Gladstar. Her light and laughter are contagious and so is her love of the healing plants, especially those that are endangered or at risk. In effort to bring awareness to issues that affect the herbal community such as habitat destruction, ethical wild crafting practices and healing the planet, she founded the United Plant Savers.
Their mission, “is to protect native medicinal plants of the United States and Canada and their native habitat while ensuring and abundant renewable supply of medicinal plants for generations to come. The work of United Plant Savers involves research, education and conservation of native medicinal plants and their habitats. We hope you will join us in this worthwhile and important mission.”
As herbalism and herbal medicine continues “rapidly regaining its rightful place in the American tradition of health and healing,” it is important to be mindful of our impact on the medicinal plant communities. We invite you, as readers, healers, and human beings to join the conversation about how we can be better stewards of Mother Earth.
